Cinofilo, cacciatore, giudice di Field Trials ed Esposizioni, fondatore del Kennel Club Italiano, è una delle maggiori figure della cinofilia nel nostro paese.
Direttore e fondatore di riviste specializzate quali la Rivista Cinegetica, organo ufficiale del Kennel Club Italiano, Caccia e Tiri, collaborò con lo pseudonimo di Max ad altre testate quali Diana e Il Cacciatore Italiano e scrisse alcuni trattati la cui validità è ancora oggi riconosciuta: ricordiamo fra gli altri "I cani da ferma", il famosissimo "Il Vademecum dell'Ammaestratore" giunto ad una quinta riedizione nel 1914, "Il romanzo di un cane".
Estimatore delle razze italiane, a lui si deve la prima stesura dello standard del Bracco Italiano e dello Spinone.
I suoi bracchi, spinoni, pointers e setter furono i protagonisti delle rassegne cinofile a cavallo tra l'ottocento ed il novecento, dando una indelebile impronta all'allevamento di queste razze.
Per rendere omaggio a Ferdinando Delor, ogni anno si disputa il Trofeo che
porta il suo nome, riservato ai cani da ferma: il miglior continentale italiano, il miglior continentale estero ed il miglior inglese sono sul ring
d'onore. |
Dog fancier, hunter, show and field trials judge, founder of the Italian Kennel Club, Ferdinando Delor de Ferrabouc is still one of the most important character of the Cinofilia in Italy.
Editor and founder of specialized magazines as the Rivista Cinegetica, official organ of the Italian Kennel Club, Caccia e Tiri, he contributed to other reviews as Diana and Il Cacciatore Italiano, under the pen name Max, writing some treatises whose validity is still acknoledged. To mention some of them: Il Cane da Ferma, the renowned "Il Vademecum dell'Ammaestratore" that was fifth edited in 1914, Il Romanzo di un Cane.
Appreciator of the Italian Breeds, the first drafts of the Standards of the Italian Bracco and Spinoni are owe to him.
His Braccos, Spinoni, Pointers and Setters were the protagonists of the exhibitions between the ninth and the twenthies century, giving an enduring mark to the breeding of these breeds.

Delor, every year a Trophy to his name is contended to pointing dogs: the best
Italian, the best European and the best English are in the ring of honour.
